January - May 2025
My mentor and friend Vanley Burke received an honorary doctorate from Birmingham City University. Grateful I was there to celebrate with him.
For the month of March, I briefly relocated to Vilnius, Lithuania for an art residency with Rupert. I spent a lot of time walking, doing my best to avoid the tics and recording some new sounds/music. I managed to stumble on the guys behind Palanga Street Radio and spin some tunes with them. In the evenings, I lit fires and cooked dinner with Imani and Zehra. Shoutout to the gays!
Mid-March, I went to Berlin for a couple days to see MIKE and Salimata play at Gretchen and then headed to Frankfurt Am Main for a live performance at the Schauspiel with EOS Radio. It was a warming time. Oh, yeah, I also turned 30, got rejected for an MA and was denied R&D funding for my project. Needless to say, I cried but we move!
Back in Birmingham, E came up from London to shoot a video with Dylan. Variations put on a bangin’ party at Pan-Pan, and I assisted on a video shoot for Zeus with no face.
Not bad for the first half of the year.
